At $1.8 billion, the chemical industry is the second largest manufacturing industry in the state generating $219 million in payroll across 47 establishments. The chemical industry provides more than 2,000 direct jobs in Delaware and nearly 3,300 related jobs. Like most manufacturing industries, the chemical industry in Delaware is facing a mounting workforce crisis. As the existing workforce retires, member companies find it increasingly difficult to find skilled laborers to fill these positions.
